How to write Em-Dash in Windows without Numpad

Actually, I don’t know if this symbol (—) is called Em-Dash. I was Googling it with dumb keywords “How to write a long slash”, “How to write double-slash as one”, etc—and somehow I found it if that symbol is called an Em-Dash. So, afterwards, it’s easier for me to write a proper keyword to find what I need—an Em-Dashhhhhhhhh, rawr!

It’s easy once you know how to do it. It’s hard when you have no idea how to do it. Cool—let’s get started 😎

I divide it into two methods, the original and the additional. Both work fine for me. But, I prefer the additional one.

Here are the methods you can write Em-Dash on Windows: #

  1. Original ways—you can type Ctrl + Alt + -- and voila! You got a new (—) Em-Dash.
  2. The additional way is to use/install an Em-Dash program. I use Em-n-en. It works well on my computer—and I recommend you to try it.

Both of the methods work fine without a numeric keypad (Numpad).

That’s it, now you can add an Em-Dash easily to your article and make your writing looks more organized. Good luck!
